aw11 suspension mods - any sugestions?

My aw11 currently has crazy hard springs and the shocks are a bit past it. I want a more pliable suspension set-up but still all low and racecar-like.

Before any one asks I have no idea what the spring rates are.

Are a nice set of coil-overs the way to go?
Do you need too get them certed?

first up yes coilovers need cert.

secondly it all depends how low you want to go.... i can do kits from stock to as low as you can go... a spring set will cost from $380-475 and covers ranges from 20mm to 40mm lower. which in an aw11 is probably enough,

why not some KYB 4-way adjustibles, SuperCharger stock springs and TRD stage 1 wheel alignment.

works wonders for me

TRD alignment specs?? thats a new one to me... are they the specs they provided with their bush kits or something?

heres the specs:

alignment:

Camber Front: -1 degree
Camber Rear : -1 "

Caster : +6 "

Toe in Front: 1/16 in.
Toe in rear : 1/8 in.

this is the specs that TRD would set-up the suspension for phase (stage) one. there were three stages, but this seems the best street set-up. phase two is more auto cross/stree and phase three is full on track style.

phase one works very well for me, although ride quality was slightly less than stock, it is still nice to drive and handles very well and my breaking distance has shortened

don't know if this is the same on the 84 (ride quality and stuff) but the specs are the same for all years of aw11. this set-up is currently in my 89 and can strongly recommend it

yeah those springs are damn hard.

i got the coil-over kit from japrace, also my car had GAB 4-way's in it, but both of the back ones crapped out (one leaked, the others adjustment knob seized) so its only got those in the front. however i really havent had my car on the road enough to get it handling right!!

they have different stuff from TRD in japan, mainly us market stuff.
