I wouldn't buy it if the AA inspectors didn't know what was wrong! It means you'll be paying lots of money to other people to find out what the problem is..

Many things can cause this, however the most common is worn ignition components, these are a 'disposable' item on any car. Expect to pay about $200-300 to replace the majority of the ignition components...

Depends, I know of a few blacktop 4AGE's that have a hesitation around the 3 grand mark, and nothing short of unplugging the VVT seems to stop it.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

Tell the yard your buying from (assuming it is a yard?) that the condition of purchase is to have this fault repaired. But I have also seen a few blacktop's with a hesitation around 3-3500rpm so it could just be a feature not a fault.

Also the AA would not know shit from clay. They are the most over-rated people when it comes to vehicle inspections and repairs. :P

the aa wont actually look into a fault, they just report symptoms.

a hesitation there on any 20v is normal when cold. also if its off a yard, its prob running 91 which will cause it to run like poos

Yeh i can vouch for this. My uncle put 91 in my BZG when he was borrowing it and it ran like a crock of shit. No acceleration, idled real funny - it just didnt like it... even better if you can run it on 98.
Also there is no torque down low (well i found anyway) so this may be what the slight hesitation is...
