Who makes adaptor plates in nz for quads off 20v??

Postby crispy'86 » Thu Jun 09, 2005 10:57 pm

I am after a few ideas on how to make an adaptor plate to go from quad throttle bodies to big port 16v head, or maybe small port head too.
I've seen a few people who have had some made or done them themselves , anyone know who do these in nz???

laser cut a flange and weld it to an old manifold.
Ive been working on a dcoe based adaptor kit, but at this stage its all just a 3d CAD model.

Theres a place overseas that make a nice manifold for $250US.
Do a search as I remember seeing something about it a while back.
Otherwise, nite parts used to make them.

Easy done this was, maybe 1-2hrs to mod a carb manifold to have factory unmod'd 20V throtle bodies fit. This way you can also do big and samll port with ease just by getting the correct monifold to start off with. :D

Were the spacings between the webbers and the spacings between the quads the same?

Would it be straight forward to make up an adaptor plate so the quads will bolt straight to and webber/dellorto manifold? even if it meand modifying the quads?

its close enough to work, espcially with a 3 axis laser cutting machine to shape the ports of the adaptor plate. However the biggest issue is injector placement, for eg it wont work on my 18rg DCOE manifold becuase the manifold is so short there is no room to put injector boss's in the manifold runners, and the fact that there is balance tubes and crap in the way, which leads me back to my 2nd design which is two laser cut flanges, one to suit the t/bs then another flang to suit the head of the target eng, with some bits of ally pipe to join in up.

Cheers

What about modifying the standard silvertop manifold to bolt up to a webber manifold?

If you are using it on a 4age you can just use the factory injectors and rail as it is in the head. 8)

if you thinking of doing it that way you may as well cut and shut a silver top manifold to a 16v manifold.

I was thinking of welding a tvis plate (with tvis removed) onto the 20v manifold and then getting in there with a die grinder and jbweld. But without actually seeing the 20v manifold I dont know if its possible.
