On the subject of oils, Is there any problems going from a semi synthetic to a full synthetic oil?

I am currently using Valvoline 10-40 semi and was going to go to a 5-30 fully synthetic.

Would it pay to flush the engine before doing so or should it not matter at all ?

Personally, I think a flush is a good idea. Helps get rid of any built up crap sitting in the oilways in your engine
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Yeap I do a flush every 3 or so changes anyways... the amount of crud that comes out is both scary and surprising! And then I run some clean stuff through and drain it again just to be sure.....

Have been using Castrol R (RS) 10W60 for very long time, my car sees lots of 9000 rpm, lots of traffic driving, does not consume oil ( 220k on the clock).
Dont go below 10W grade, it is too thin, even VVT Cam pulley is very noisy with real thin oil (little bit quieter on blacktops).
