Inserts

Postby RE20 » Wed Oct 12, 2005 2:23 pm

Can someone please tell me if shock inserts affect the captiveness of a spring? Im gonna replace my oil ones with kyb gas inserts but the insert length would depend on the springs I use wouldnt it? Or do I have it wrong? Its got standards at the moment, but I wanna lower it , and when I do I dont wanna have to buy inserts again . So should I put choppys in when I get them replaced? or will it be sweet? Hope that makes sense!

the length of the insert with effect the ability to keep it captive. short springs with long shocks will root the valves in the shocks due to bottoming out.
have a search or go to your supplier to see if ther are shocks of the same diameter put shorter in length, then fit a spacer in the strut to stop the insert from moving inside the strut.
