4AGZE from AW11 into a KE70 Sedan

Postby DR ROTOR » Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:18 am

hey there i currently have a 1982 toyota corolla dx sedan.. it currently runs a 4K 4 speed.... im wanting to put a 4AGZE into it.. i have my eyes on a 1987 Supercharged MR2 AW11 complete car wrecking. just wondering if the motor will drop into it, without any major modifications? i understand that i will need the cross member/mounts custom made... but will the AW11 gearbox fit into my ke70? are they a T50?, i got loom computer etc just wanting to know what i need for the conversion?

Thanks

The gearbox on the AW11 is a E51 I believe. Plus you will need to turn the shifter linker?...around.... but know it will not fit as its a FWD gearbox..

No it won't fit, unless the ke70 is also fwd....

Or you are going to stick the motor in the boot :P

You could use a t50 though if you wanted to, just get ahold of a 4a - T50 bell housing.

Your standard K40 gearbox would last, oooh, maybe a day on the back of a 4AGZE, the torque would shred it.
Try fine a T50 gearbox, they actually bolt onto 4AGE's, but with abuse that would die too.
If you were going to do it properly, and had intentions of making more power/giving it a hiding in the future, then look to a W series box. You'll need to do the diff as well, as its not really designed for much horsepower.
Its not a straight forward drop it in she'll be right conversion, but its not terribly hard either. Plenty of info about if you search.

OMG so shiny!
