20V cambelt

Postby BZR4AGE » Thu Mar 02, 2006 11:41 am

A quick question. Anyone knows if the 4age 20V silver top cambelt are the same as the 4AGE 20V blacktop cambelt? apparently they are different, but ain't they the same block and head with just different internals?

the reason i am asking is because i bought a racing cambelt from overseas, and i think they gave me the silvertop belt instead.

Cheers

Goat Harasser, is it the crank pulley or the cam pulley's that are different to require the alteration in belt?

I know with the colleciton of every 4age part under the Sun, I'm going to be caught by this one... one day.

im not sure on the pulleys.... but the blacktop has that auto tensioner and is longer i think, by a tooth iirc
so it maybe the pulleys, the tensioner or both

Hey guys. I was selling the belt in trademe, but a guy told me if i use the silvertop tensioner, then my toda belt would be fine, because if i use the silvertop tensioner, then their wouldn't be a 1 tooth difference. Is this true? will it work on my blacktop? How much is a tensioner cost usually? Sorry I dun really know wht the tensioner is. Cheers guys

I imagine that you would have to use a complete silvertop oil pump assembly to get that to work.

Also silvertop oil pump has timing mark in slightly different position as well.
In my opinion it is too much hassle for a just a cambelt.
Just get genuine for 40-50 odd bucks and it will work fine.
