Clutch slave cly.->push rod->clutch fork interaction.

Done a manaul conversion a while ago and was under the car makeing sure nothing was going a berkers on me. Was having a close look at the push rod (as i turned it myself) and noticed that it was pressed HARD up on the clutch fork looking like it may actually be slightly pushing it partially disengaging the clutch.

I'm Fairly sure i cut it so it was right but in looking at it, it is definatly a tight fit eg. no movement. The question is, Would the cylinders move untill the push rod was just in contact or what? because if my clutch isn't engageing propper it'll probably be worn out real soon :/

if you machined it to long than it could be doing this, otherwise, yes with a hydro clutch, the slave push rod will always be in contact with the clutch arm.many cars have a sping between the two ensureing they are always in contact.
did you try moving the clutch arm at all. usually you can get afew mm of movement by pushing it before contact of the release bearing to pressure plate

In a hydraulic setup pushrod length will not provoke any movement in the clutch until the slave cylinder is 'bottomed out' in the bore. If you still have backwards movement in the cylinder then it shouldnt be causing a problem.

If the pushrod is acting on the fork then it would of been a struggle to install the cylinder.

the above is all correct, but also bear in mind that as the clutch wears, the arm will move back towards the slave, so that if your pushrod fitted ok to start with, as the clutch wears it will get closer and closer to bottoming out.
Just make sure you can still move the arm back off the pressure plate a bit before the slave bottoms out and its fine

hmm ok this is also correct but

clutch wear will only counteract on the slave in a pull type configuration which the majority of toyotas dont have

also a clutch has to wear for thousands and thousands of kms for less than a cm of adjustment

If your worried about it, check it.

ummm, not too sure what you mean by counteract, but when the clutch plate gets thinner (wears), the pressure plate moves closer to the flywheel, so the fingers of the diaphram will move away from the flywheel, reducing freeplay....
