is the e58 mechanical or electronic?


hey im after some info on speedo readers in the gearbox.

im running a e52 which is cable /gear driven

however my loom is set up to run electronic speedo as my dash dosent have a speedo cable input, i.e its electronic.

so what i want to know is what the approx i mate length of any 4a model electronic speedo reader.

can anyone confirm if the e58 ae101 or even facelift ae92 speedo reader is electronic?

any help is appreciated

p.s whats the term for a "speedo reader" :oops: :lol:

anyway i found this after a few pages of search

but can someone tell me the length of a ae101 digital/electronic sensor?

which sensor did you use?

All the E series I've encountered have interchangeble speed spensors, I have swapped ST165 mechanical (E50F) with ST205 electronic with no problem, for example AE92 GTZ (E5X) mechanical and AE101 GTZ electronic also can be interchanged

CAN SOMEONE WITH A AE101 GTZ PLEASE CONFIRM WETHER OR NOT SPEEDO SENSOR IS MECHANICAL OR ELECTRONIC!

ok AE101 is electronic. AE92 is not. They are straight swaps.

I have AE101 GTZ damaged sensor laying some where in my garage, not sure if it works (plastic casing is damaged, possible to glue/solder on)...

From searching at www.twincam.org/forums it appears the ae101 gtz gearboxes use an electronic speed sensor. They know a bit more about shit like this over there, as they do a lot of 4agze conversions into their ae9* Corollas
