Where the hell is my oil filter? 4AGZE?

Postby DB4G63 » Mon May 29, 2006 5:17 pm

Just a small question. Ive been doing some Google searches trying to locate an image that clearly shows an AE101's 4AGZE's oil filter position. Last time did an oil change couldnt find the damn thing for looking. I guess the car being so low didnt help getting under it either.

Im aware it somewhere on the firewall side since its a RWD motor mounted backwards but where?? Its quite a small filter so finding it isnt easy either.
If anyone knows or has a pic it would be greatly appreciated.

Also how hard is it to change a dash backlight bulb?

not that it matters now, but filter mounting side is not dependant on if the engine was origonally rwd or fwd. (just for your future info)

But the fram doesnt have enough "reach" for my 4age...

its a 1st gen gze block, (aw11), and its got the sandwich plate thingee removed. The genuinue toyota filter only screws on about a turn, the fram one can't get a good grip.

u mean the filter thread? you could invest in a slightly longer one. I wouldnt feel secure with a one turn tight filter myself.

Yup, thats exactly what I mean.

Its a nice big corse thread, the reckon one turn is ok with it (has been so far).

(Had to remove the plate becuase the turbo manifold is too close..)
