Do these require window adhesive(silicon) or just clip in (with the grooves in the rubber). Any installation tips or instructions ?

hatch window i just clipped in using the string technique, no silicone, thats on a metal hatch

yes, f/glass hatch.

You can fit the glass with the factory seal but I have seen them leak like that, might pay to put some sealant around the edges to stop that from happening. I thought you would be fitting lexan? It just so happens I got myself a fibre glass hatch also, have you looked into the prices of lexan? it seems a shame to have a light weight hatch fitted with heavy glass.

I was thinking that with the fibreglass hatch you'd actually be best off trying to silicone the glass in place and then just silicone "glueing" a strip of rubber around the edges...

That way the glass/lexan will add to the ridigity of the hatch.

I was tempted to use Lexan, but the cost and hassle just didnt seem worth it. I've taken ~10kg already out by the time you add up the wiper motor and steel>f/glass. I like the durability of glass, plus the idea of keeping the demister is a nice one, or just call me lazy.

trick i got from my old man, its hard to explain, you use it to get the rubber around the glass easily

Its a length of cord - about 4mm thick - that you put into the outside seal groove all the way round after fitting the seal to the glass, overlapping it at the ends . Fit the seal to the glass and sit it in place on the hatch with the ends of the string hanging into the inside of the hatch. Pull one end of the cord downwards and it should pull the inside lip of the seal through to the inside of the hatch. Work your way round - pulling the cord down. Couple of minutes and you're done.

Nice even pressure - feet work well!! Someone pulling up from the outside also helps. Once you get it started, it comes out easy.
