20v + mitsi wasted spark what leads?

Postby AceSniper » Tue Nov 06, 2007 4:03 pm

What HT leads are best suited/fitting when using mitsi coils on a 20v,
and a rough length of how far away can the coils can be mounted

Ones I was using worked ok but real pain to get on/off the plugs and now there leaking spark

cheers

you could always go into BNT or something, they sell 8 and 10mm HT leads in varying lengths, could probably find something to suit what you're doing.

leads

we are using mitsi coils on the ae86 with a crank angle sensor setup,we are using trd leads, the top of the mitsi coils need to be trimed down a little,if you look in members projects at 20mm spanners project car this is the one we are building and there is a picture of the engine in this. Our coils are mounted on the rear of the cam covers.

I have some 8mm lead here (made last lot) but I couldnt find anything suitable to secure and reach down the plug tubes.

fxgt_race any idea if the 16v leads fit down and clip onto 20v plugs?

leads

the rubber boot on the end that connects to the spark plug is to big to fit down the 20v tube and knowing that yours have been squashed a little it makes it even smaller,in saying that you can change the boots on the end over by gently taking them off as they will fit, then a little bit needs to be trimed of the top rubber boot,no bigge and they will work, that is as a last resort so other leads that simply go right down the tubes are the easier option.
I was looking at the ngk leads on trade me and they look like they will work but you would need to try them,I was using ngk ones for a blue top to work out if they would work on the silvertop.

I modify the standard 20V leads to suit the Mitsi coils, as we have the HT terminals and crimping gear at work,

only downside is that you are quite restricted on length.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Has anyone else seen or experimented with the 4 coil pack setup's?

Apparantly I read on the net somewhere,

that you can use the 4 coils off a 1NZFE or 1AZFE or something?
