hi all, this one should be pretty simple, how do you reset the factory ecu and how do you turn off the factory boost controller.

cheers

I think you just need to pull out the EFI fuse for 30 seconds to reset the ECU.

Dont know about the factory boost controller tho :S

Why are you wanting to turn off factory boost control? Or what I really mean is are you wanting to do this permanently or have it on a switch??
It sits near the engine hoist hook under factory intercooler you should be able to follow the actuator hose back to it. I assume you can just bypass it with plumbing then unplug the valve that will leave you running boost as set by your wastegate spring. I assume you have your non factory setup in by now and that your wastegate's spring is determining the desired boost level.
fivebob has posted a photo of the boost controller revoved from the engine.

bearing in mind the factory boost control is there to stop you putting full boost through a cold engine or when the air temperature is too high and likely to cause detonation.

Depends entirely on your boost controller. Stock actuator has a 7lb spring but it boosts a lot higher ;)

From what I understand you will sit nicely on 8 pounds after removing boost controller,, Surely fivebob if it is boosting higher with no controller installed there is actuator problems (sticking) or inadequate wastegate flow.
Gleem, will have a hunt and see if I find the link was a while ago I last saw it. There may-be a photo in the st215 rebuild project post???

if its an aftermarket wastegate , then the quoted spring pressures for the wastegate spring don't usually translate into that same pressure.

if its factory then yeah id be looking at the wastegate diaphragm, as ive heard of a few of them leaking.

The stock system includes a controller of sorts, it's the bleed off variety and the actuator only sees the 7psi required to open when the manifold pressure is about 12psi.

The ECU also blocks the bleed when the engine is cold, the knock sensor fails, or some other conditions that the ECU determines require lower boost. When the bleed is blocked the wastegate actuator sees full boost pressure and opens at approx 7psi.
