adjustable actuator arms

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Fri May 16, 2008 9:25 pm

Just wanting peoples experience on making an adjustable actuator arm; as in cutting it in half / threading it and rejoining it with threaded bar.

the turbo in question is a t25 and stock actuator runs 7psi.
would it be impossible to get 12 - 14psi- out of the same actuator with an adjustable arm?

and how reliable would it be?

cheers

its the diaphram spring that determines the WG opening point, the arm adjustment wont make any differance.

yeah i understand that, but the idea is you can adjust the pressure on the spring so it opens earlier or is held shut til later. this is only what i've read on the internet though  but i have seen it on a few setups too...

so it changes the pre load on the actuator spring?

interesting... is it based on the same idea as above? from looking at your pics in the projects section it looks similar.

how much can you adjust the boost? 1 or 2 pounds or what?

its similar to that, the rod from actuator is threaded and the part that attatches to the gate screws onto that, yeh heaps of adjustement apprntly can go up 2 35psi, but so far controls nicely on 7 , 10 and 13psi

IMO, it does work, but you may only get a limited range of adjustment,
and too much preload may cause boost spikes and unstablity.

Definatly worth a try though.

haha 35psi, mean. don't think the t25 will get that far. :(
whats the factory spring pressure? i'm not wanting to up the boost by a heap, only 5psi or so so my thinking it should be OK.

time will tell i guess
