what a relief

Postby tsenior » Wed Mar 01, 2006 2:43 pm

well was talking to warrick today and he conviced me to disconnect the gizzmo and run completly stock, which i have done.. so paranoid now about knock with these engines running on 95 (no 98 here) Took it for a little blast and no bucking. I can get the Gizzmo to work with gain turned down but boost is slow , but fun when gain was at 90 boost is crazy rapid but lots of bucking. So Back to standard it is,sounds a lot safer to run these engines like this.

oh i never took the rest of the plugs out just the one i was testing..

na no boost cut, that doesnt come on to about 20 psi and that feels quite harsh when it does go on boost cut, just gizzmo with gain set to max does not control the boost vey well even if boost set to say 11 psi, spikes all over the show.

sorry to dredge up an ancient thread, but I was referred to it as my gen3 3s is having the same hesitation problem.

but reading back on the gizzmo ebc and its gain feature, if you actually read the instructions, it tells you that the higher the gain, the later the solenoid actually starts working to control boost levels, meaning quicker spool, but less time to stop it overshooting the level you set.
no wonder why it was unstable setting it for 90%, I never had mine set above 50%.

And I did get mine working reliably for a couple of months, It was the shitty build quality that crapped out just after warranty that stopped me using it.

Im guessing the guy that had it doesnt frequent theses forums now, dont recognise the name
2011 Ford Mondeo tdci.

Hey, at least it sounds like a 3s.

I'm struggling getting my EBC set up. If I have gain over 20-25% I get boost spikes. So I run it on 15% and have the wastegate start to open at 6.5 psi before the target boost (13.5 psi). But even on that it shoots up to 14-15 psi before it drops down to 10 and then takes forever to reach the target. I tried turning everything effectively to zero (0% gain, wastegate start to open at 10psi before target) and it still spiked above the target, just not as much. This is a new controller, recently installed.

When accelerating at less than full throttle the boost comes on and off, ie, hits 8psi then drops down to 3-4psi then climbs again and repeats (watching the guage). But under full load, its ok.

How the hell do I get this thing to run steadily?
