got a 2e powered starlet that's only done 150k, and is burnign oil hardout.
it doesn't smoke profuesly on the over-run, which would suggest valve guides/stem seals, but to me it doesn't seem like a ring problem. it doesn't smoke proportionate to engine load, and doesn't smoke at idle. engine isn't idled around and gets a good workout so I shant imagine that the bores would be glazed. It also pulls really, really well. Which would not be the case with a worn engine
the crankcase ventilation system seems to be working correctly. it's not throwing oil out there, and it doesn't breathe any more than I would expect a reasonbly healthy engine would.
am I right in suspecting exhaust valve stem seals? given that on the over-run, it doesn't do the normal valve guide puff of smoke then the inlet side must be of reasonable condition. the exhaust side isn't subject to the same vacuum......
I haven't pulled the plugs and run a compression test or had a look at the deposits on them either but I reckon they'll all be spot on.
Any ideas/confirmations?
