I'm looking to build a manifold and the exhaust ports are oval on the head and on the flange. Are oval to round sections of pipe able to be purchased or how do you turn round pipe into an oval?

Squish in vice/press is one way. Heating it to soften it may help (red hot, not just warm).

Slit pipe, bend open and weld in a wedge is another.

has anyone tried doing that with steampipe????

Just squash it with press/vice and when you do put something solid inside it that is the right size you want to squash down to so it acts as a guide/support.

Just a bit of vice work, used the right sized wedge in the centre, with some good heat and appropriate sized wedge with BFH to finish.

That wedge method is sweet. Simple but works so well, just depends if the height of the oval section matches the diameter of the round section as to if that would work or not I guess.

i was reading a article from a guy who made exhaust headers for a living and he said that it didn't matter as long as the pipe was slightly larger overall than the size of the hole in the exhaust flange. Not sure if it helps your quest but a useless piece of info none the less.

i made some tooling awhile ago to press steam tube to suit a particular exhaust port, worked well,

you can also buy steam tube reducers, eg 1.1/4 to 1.1/2 the press the larger end to an oval
