EP82 Rear Sway Bar Install

Hi guys, this is from Whiteline's website, is it legal to instal it this way, by drilling a hole through the chassis rail?

Not as long as you weld in a crush tube.
I've installed quite a few of these that have gone straight through certs.

Please forgive my ignorance, how exactly does that work?

Basically drill the hole larger than required and slot a tube through, then the mounting bolts go through the whole lot?

Been there done that to an EP91, awesome upgrade. With crush tube it will be sweet, shouldn't need a cert either.

do it tidy and no one will notice anyway

do they normally need a rear bar? our old race car used to oversteer a heap even with a bigger front swaybar

Technically to be a nerd about it, yep, if somebody pulls a pissy fit about it, it needs a cert if an inspector deems your drilling holes then fitting the crush tube is strengthening or weakening a structural member of the car.

That said, I had one on my EP82 and nobody noticed (and it was welded re-enforcement plates too).

Yup, they do benefit from the rear bar. Sit a heck of a lot flatter in corners, and the turn in improves a whole bunch.

Massive difference, this, adjustable panhard rod, strut braces and a good shock/spring combo makes them very go kart like.
