So after I turn off my girlfriend AE92 Levin I can hear a buzzing/hum from this part.
Just interested to see what it is for.

this is the part.

It is most likely to be electrical load idle-up solenoid valve.

Vacuum switching valve, switches vacuum signal from plenum to..... somewhere.. trace the hoses..
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

From pictures one side goes behind throttle body another in front (it is T-ed into A/C Idle up Valve piping). The only purpose I see is to increase idle.

Yip most likely an electrical idle-up solenoid/valve, pretty sure to compensate for ANY electrical load............ i.e a/c turned on.

from its location, most likely its the VSV for the charcoal canister.

Sweet, makes sense now. It has two hoses in one from the throttle body and one thats tee'd. (nothing to the charcoal canister)

So yeah would make sense its an idle up solenoid. How does this work, so when there is a change in vac it pulls the solenoid closed which send the signal through to the ecu to idle up?

anyhow from the sounds of things its a bit messed up anyway to be clicking/buzzing when ignition is off. So I'll try pick-a-part a replacement.

Are you sure the buzzing sound comes from it and not the charcoal canister (normal for canister)?

It works by ECU applying ground on it (12V supplied from ignition wire), which draws a spring loaded steel plunger inside electric magnet (aka solenoid), which opens air path between two ports.

If it is electric load idle up solenoid, the ECU figures out that certain circuits are engaged (the ECU will have input for stop lights and I think for rear demister among other things) and RPMs are below certain level, then it energises the solenoid.
