2jzgte removing aircon..what about pulley?

Postby 92mr2paddy » Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:59 pm

ok so i havent had the aircon system working (have removed everything except pump) in years, atm setting up the big single turbo and the Massive air con unit is just sitting on the side of the motor,
only problem is everything runs of one giant ass belt, is there an easy way around this or do i have to get another pully mounted in the same place where the air cont unit is or maybe a shorter belt? anyone done this before.. easily? cheers pat

If you are wanting to keep the damper on the tensioner, you'd be best to put a pulley in there. I tried making enough clearence but the bracket was too thin and failed.

I think the belt is 5PK1340 (or was it 1300?). Pretty sure its 40mm shirter than stock anyways!

sweet so i wouldnt need the damper just the tensioner by itself would work? but i know what u mean i took it off earlier and the belt would run right onto the bracket that the dampener bolts too but if its not needed would be great, cheers pat

I believe the aristo motor doesnt even have the damper anyway so It appears they can cope without one.

My NA doesnt have one either :( *sniff*

In was only on the 6 Speed 2JZGTE's / JZA80's.

Might have been something related to the dual mass flywheels?
