Tial WG leaks air from pressure reference ports

Postby gt4dude » Mon Aug 06, 2012 7:35 pm

I hooked up the bottom port to an air compressor, some air bleeds from the top port, but alot leaks out underneath

is this normal? it still boosts around the spring pressure, maybe a tiny spike or 2 but not major

not as major as the air leak sounds anyways

no good

just tested .8bar springs its spiking to 1.3bar in 3rd gear and 1.1bar in 2nd

on .6bar springs it holds .6bar ;S

when i use the tap on the .6bar springs i can get to .85bar steady, but another 1/4 turn after that shoots straight to 1.3bar

Genuine Tial? Sounds like a leaking diaphragm and a leaking valve stem. What model is it? Tial sell replacement parts.

No it's not normal at all. I would contact him if it's still under warranty and have it tested and replaced.

Leaking through the shaft is normal and does not affect operation.

Is you apply pressure to the bottom port and get air coming out the top port is not and is a sign of a faulty diaphram.

i presume that you are not blocking off the top port
then applying pressure to the bottom one?
as that wont test it.

im just applying pressure to the bottom port, and its coming out the bottom and the top port both

i see no sign that i have pinched the diaphragm or anything like that

i actually thought the top port was supposed to vent to atmo a little bleedoff

No, you hook up your vacuum line from the inlet mani to the bottom port.

Then you hook the controlling pressure line into the top. Usually comes from your boost controller.
