I dont want to spend another $50.00.
Im going to have a nother crack at the brakes today give him 1 klast chance on monday

I spoke to VTNZ who stated:
you are not to pull up the handbrake on a moving vehicle.
If the brake does not meet the efficiancy requirements you are to test it on a hill.

They will do a test on the hand brake alone then i will ask the owner of the garage to pay my bill.

I dont want a dodge wof. But the car holds on baldwin st. C-mon.

It is all in the setup, if you don't adjust the handbrake in the correct way then it won't ever work. It is not an AW11 thing as you will get the same problem with any car with the same handbrake setup that has had someone who doesn't know what they are doing install new pads etc.

They have to test the car on a hill if you ask them. I refuse to pull any handbrake up while a car is moving. All my WOF checks are done on a 1in5 hill behind work. People at VTNZ/VINZ/AA or any other WOF ONLY outfit are generally $&#$% though!

you have to reset the handbrake pump in the caliper.

its showen in the bgb but its all about adjusting the handbrake right out and then bleading the brakes with the calipers set on to the disc cause when you change the pads you pump the piston right in the handbrake only works a little bit...

had the same problem this seemed to fix it.

bleed brakes after having bed new pads in with handbrake adjusted right out.

After adjusting the cables and reseting the calipers it did nothing.

Checked if the 1-2 section was straight when the hand brake was on, it wasn't.

Cables are 10-15mm out so have to get new ones made. I hope this fixes it.

at least they not bitching at you about how far your handbrake pulls up. VTNZ has failed ssome of our customers cars for being like 5 or 6 clicks? wtf?? lol. local garages do wofs better than VTNZ i reckon. on a side note, soon im going to be qualified in wofs :D so if anyone wants a fair reasonably cheap wof, ill let you know when i can do them :P im not into dodgy wofs though

The guy who's doing my WOF says the handbrake comes up too far and hes not that happy.

I've got the same guy as you ke25sr. I have never had any problems with this garge. Just anoyed that I have to keep getting it rechecked.

Hope getting new cables solves my problem. The left cable is not as tight as the right when the handbrake is on and the left wheel isn't locking.

He Isnt to bad a guy but pissed me off because he thrashed the car and kept ripping up the handbrake.
he never went to a hill and tested the brake so i made a fuss.
Now the brake is working really good.
Im sure he will pass it.

But he has lost all my future wof's

From now on i will go see HRT at his work. Im sure he will do a fair WOF and i bet he will love driving the coupe.

I say he failed me for a good reason, just frustrating.

The car needed fixed so that's what I'm doing.

Two new handbrake cables later and it locks both wheels in the gravel. :D

Should pass the WOF now. Then off to Autocross on Sunday.

This thread has been very helpful.
