Hey,
I can't say I've shopped round, or tried other brands, but when I wanted pads everyone pointed me to 0800BRAKES (Race Brakes).
They charge per square cm of pad used as they bond the new compound onto your old backplates. For the 8 pads and 1l of fluid it cost me about $600. Keep in mind that the supra has quite large brakepads so it shouldn't cost you this much.
I got the M1166 compound for my car, but they'll probably recommend the M1155 for a AE111 as its a smaller car. I'm so impressed with these pads, no brake fade EVER while having them in the car, even on Taupo track last year, 180km/h hard braking off the back straight every lap...
As far as the old wives tale of Race Pads being bad for the road - I guess this used to be true, but the Mintex M1166 cold performance for a similar pedal pressure was BETTER than my stock pads. So really, its a win/win situation....
If you have any Q's give them a call, they're always willing to help and have a really good attitude. 0800 BRAKES.
Now if only these mintex people made tyres....
Ben.
P.S. Can't comment on the handbrake issue as my car has seperate handbrake drums inside the rear rotors.
