confused on st162..........

Postby LowRydr » Wed Jun 23, 2004 12:19 pm

hey im just looking at buying a st162, its a 1986 model and i have a 1988 model,

I havent seen the car inperson but.... it has a 2.0lt twin cam motor (i suspect its a 3sge...) and mine has a 3sge,

But my car is 5stud (5x100) and this car is clearly 4stud. now i thought all celicas (except maby the 4age ones) were 5 stud..

Or is it the GT-R's are 5 stud and the rest are 4? or that between the '86 and '88 models the stud pattern changed? i just wana know that if i buy this car will I be able to use the gear box, pedal box cv's .etc to bolt into my st162?

cheers

All 3SGE ST162's are 5 stud however the one you're looking at might be a 3SFE although all the manual stuff should be the same except for the flywheel maybe.

after having a qwik look on the epc 3sge st162s have 5 stud and st160 (1s) have 4 aswell as st163 (4s)
i think some early (up to mid88) 3sfe ones have 4 stud as well... can be sure of one thing though... if its 4 stud it wont be a factory 3sge....

i dunno about being the same, would probably be diff ratios.
not sure about the flywheel either, if its got the same number of bolts then it probably interchangable
