20v Gearbox Question

Postby AXNGRL » Fri Jul 16, 2004 10:06 am

Before anyone jumps in, I have already done a search & no this info didn't come up. Maybe the last topic was too long ago?

But anyway :D

What is the code on the chassis tag for an LSD on a AE101 Facelift 20v?

update your EPC :P maybe nelson didnt get it

but yeah.. i heard it was almost stock for the AE111 20v's?

Could always search some of the US based toyota forums... they always seem to know alot about JDM options as they import engines and boxes to use in the US

haha i was just doing a bit of research on the epc right now...

that info on the late ae101 is total bs im afraid.
they most definitly were not stock with lsd!

some versions of the AE111 had lsd, the bzr did standard, some ppl claim the bzv did but again no concrete evidence

the gear ratios are all good, but i dunno about some of the applications listed!

sheesh... theres more bs in there...

first someone says the gtz used the 'c' series boxes, then hes corrected by some one saying they use the 'e' series (correct) and that person claims all gtzs had lsd standard, which is also not true...

Ive got an E58-11C which has been said at http://www.twincam.org/forums as being an LSD. Not sure about C series boxes though.

You could always try the old fashioned way to find out

i think the 'c' means lsd, but i havnt been able to confirm for sure... i know on the ae111 bzr it has a 'c' on the end of the code, and they do have lsd...

the 'e' is another series altogether, used in celica, currens mr2s and gtz levin/treunos and starlet turbos
there are lsd versions of the 'e' series boxes but most definitly the majority are not lsd

righty ho, just went & checked chassis tag, I have a C56 -15a.

What I want to know is can you buy an LSD & put it into the above gearbox or do you have to buy a complete new gearbox with it already in? if so, is anyone able to tell me which coded gearbox I need to buy?

If you want to turbo it, put a GTZ gearbox in it that already has LSD

yes you can buy an LSD to fit, TRD do them amoung others.
however you will want an 'e' series box from a gtz levin/treuno for a turbo conversion
you can either get one with an lsd or fit an aftermarket one.
you will also need to get the axles with it.
youll kill a 'c' box damn qwik with a turbo 20v!!
