I was thinkin of 3' but have been told it could be bad for it, is this true? also would I get lagg? My mate works at woolf mufflers n he recons 2 1/2' would be big enough....

in its current state im sure 2.5" will be plenty.... but theres another side of the coin..... are you going to modify it a wee bit? bigger turbo and the likes? might be worth planning ahead......

just another way of looking at things

have a look at nzsilvias... someone will definitly be in the know

on my old s13 i ran a straight thru 2.5" system to a 4" n1 style muffler.

was really good....not much more noticable lag

3" is good but not worth it unless u step up to a T28 or something similar, plus its pretty loud

the t25 runs well with a 2.5" :)

dont waste your time with a 2.5" exhaust. Do it right the first time. The ca18det responds very well to the addition of a 3" exhaust, and even with the t25 the lag increase is very marginal and topend improves alot. It will not boost creap with a 3" exhust either. If you choose to upgrade the turbo later, atleast you wont have to redo the exhaust.

go 2.5" if you wanna stick with the t25, any bigger 3" would be better. i say ditch the ca and get a sr20det. lol

why does everyone say that?!

the sr20det and the ca18det are the same engine man, i mean sure, ones 1.8 and ones 2.0, and one cost alot more to develop (the ca18det), this is why they mae the sr20det.

a mate of mine has a 180sx, s13 silvia, with a ca18det, boost increased to 11psi, cat back zost (idiot before him did this), this engines are capiable of 400ish hp, or roughly 10% less of that of the sr20det, but the ca18 can rev 500rpm higher than the 20...

its like comparing the blacktop and the silver i guess, one revs higher, cept the 18 produces LESS power :P.

take your pic, get max power faster, or get more power later? hes just sticking with the ca18 coz its there, low kms (for an 89, 130,000kms), just gotta rebuild it and shell be mint man :D.

new turbo... up the boost, whamo, off we go

no, they are actually very different designs. Do a lil homework.

I agree with the exhaust thing tho.. 2.5" is a total waste of time, regardless of whether you run a t25 or not.

The SR18 is the same engine, not the CA. SR18 was just never made in a turbo guise. The other reason people say swap for the SR is because it is a lot torquier, esp at the bottom end.
That said, get a roller bearing T28 for a good low end boost as well as a good top end. :D
