brake rotors? front or rear?

i can measure some rears if you want.

i'd be interested to know what the minimum thickness of rear rotors is as no books the brake shop has , have a listing for them.

Pretty sure they're the solid 234mm units on the front. 12.5mm thick. Minimum thickness of 11.5mm before you need to replace. Not sure about the rears sorry.

Cheers,

Paul. ;)

Okay, I was told that the fronts are 234mm vented, rears are 242mm solid. But they weren't willing to bet on it.
I'm just keen to check out what mine should be...

there is no way the rears are bigger than the fronts they are tiny. fronts are definately vented on all 86's and solid on rears. Like I said i will measure brand new ones

Cheers ke70...

I did a rough measure up of mine (using ruler and my eye), and I think that my rears are bigger (or at least same size) as my fronts... But it was a budget, rule by the eye measure.

Standard front disc thickness is 18.0mm, minimum thickness is 17.0mm
Standard rear disc thickness is 10.0mm, minimum thickness is 9.0mm

This is according to the Toyota AE86 Workshop manual.

I'll measure the diameters when I get home.

Okay... So was there a rear set of brakes that were bigger? I'm guessing that there was or I wouldn't have gotten given 242mm as the size of the rears...

where did you get your info from?

this is what they should be measured my brand new ones and they are the same. if your rears are larger there are a few other t-series equiped cars that had larger rears maybe a swap has been done on your car

Haven't measured mine yet... the info came from RaceBrakes surprisingly enough...
Steve at RaceBrakes said that according to his book the rears are 242mm... So that's what he quoted me for...
I just wanted to check for future reference, I'm not even planning on touching the rears at the moment, the rotors are only a couple of years (and about 11000km) old...

Cheers all...
