TRD only go gearsets, not synchros etc.

you can get things worked on a bit, cryogenic freezing seems to be all the go at the moment.

why do you need yours strenghted? what are you using it for? i assume youll plenty of mods to need a strenghted box.

Strengthening for me would consist of getting the gears/shafts either cyro'd or shot peened if not both, only hassle is the cryo guy here in Auckland seems to be useless. Or else I'd do what I do with the race boxes & get them Isotropic finished which removes all the high spots etc like shotpeening but also reduces friction etc through a smoother surface finish. I'd then fit new synchro rings etc & if they are steel ones they'll need lapping, check them for fit etc. I also check for play in the shift linkages, detents etc & fix where possible.I would then rebuild with HEAVY DUTY bearings, Saeco & other bearing places will say you don't need heavy duty bearing but tell them to "Get F*cked" & fit them as they make a difference. Fit new gaskets etc & make sure you egt all the gears nicely on the bench before install. I would then recommend you use a straight mineral gear oil say a 85/90w this is waht Quaiffe & other sujggest for there dogbox & I've never had a problem with the likes of Valvoline/Pennzoil, the only synthetics to run are Motul/ or Mobil both of these have to be changed regularly like every race meeting. Do not use REDLINE yes you will gain power through reduced firction but you will $&#$% you g/box & it turns to jelly & is a pain to clean.

I don't understand the concept of cryogenic freezing, can someone please explain it to me? Ta
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Basically the freeze the material dwon to a set level & keep it at this level for a set leng6th of time, roughly 4-6hours for some stuff. The structure of the material supposedly changes & refines the grain or something similar. Been a while since I saw all the tech stuff on it. We tried to get some stuff down by the guys here in Auckland but they didn't seem all that helpful. Supposed it reduces wear on brake rotors, cranks etc & lengthens there lifespan. A ot of the Nascar/drag guys in the states use it.

Yes box's can be strengthened.
You can get new gears sets made for them.
We had it done to a couple of W5* series boxes because the 1JZGTE would chew them out in three meetings. And you can choose your own ratio's
The setting up process is so expensive though. We had two sets made because it was not much dearer than one. The box is now behind a 700hp 2JZGTE. As for price, we had two made so it worked out about $2500 each. This was a few years ago when a s/h 6 speed supra box was $6000.

For an Ae101 Gt Apex you'd be looking at a C52 box, you can get a Quaiffe or TranX kit for them. Most people just swap in a Supercharged box. Else you could get Chalak of Pfitzner in Oz to make you a kit/gears. The only person in NZ I would get to make me a kit would be Geoff Bruce, think he calls himself Precision Engineering over the north shore, he makes a lot of 3,4 rotor shafts & has done gears for me previously. I know Charlie Evans in Hamilton does series 4/5rx7 strengthening & gearkits so you could talk to him.
