I was just reading bill sherwoods page and it says the fwd and rwd head gaskets are slightly different, i got a head set from toyota a while ago when i did my first 4age up orig rwd from my ae86. i fitted a fwd 4age blue top to it and shortly after that the head gasket blew. I fitted the gasket from the head set i bought for the ae86, now it reckons fwd head gaskets are slightly different and shouldn't be interchanged. He says he hasn't heard of anyone trying it, well i did and i haven't had any troubles with overheating or water circulation and my 4age has been in for the last 2-3 years. Is Bill's word Myth or is it a case of being lucky?? I find it hard to believe what i read

alot of bill's stuff is pure myth, the bluetop blocks are prone to corrosion around the water jacket on the outer corner of the exhaust side, this is most common reason for failure on bluetop headgaskets i have seen, prob seen at least 10 do this

yeah.. this is coming from the country with drum braked ae86s with 4ac's ... aussies are so silly sometimes

Yeah, i don't quite believe it cause i haven't had that prob. And the head gaskets are similar cause i haven't had any trouble, and i am aware of the old corroding at #4 cylinder, common as mud for 4age's to blow there

I'll tell you this now, all the blocks are the same when it comes to head gaskets. Trust me i have done plenty to know.

Just pulled the head off mine, and whattaya know! Make that 11

yeah was a bit rusty in that info department, has been a whils since i did one on my 4age in my trueno, (try3-4 years)
But yeah, they are all the same just a load of crap there about the head gaskets being different. pulled 4 4ages apart and worked on them in last month

According to Mr Revhead the FWD and RWD bluetop headgaskets have the same part number.
What do you guys do for the rust? JB weld?

Mine wasnt that bad, just mainly on the surface. I used a Face Off disc on the old grinder.

well the ae86 and ae82 are the same engine.... only differences are external.
