Glanza V no more boost :(

Postby Akane » Sun Feb 13, 2005 4:41 am

Mum was driving her car, she said all of a sudden there's a lost of power, so I took it for a spin and surely there were no more boost, apart from that I don't notice anything different, I heard the Glanza V's uses the CT9A which is a steel turbine, so I guess these don't fall apart etc. The pipings are all good, I checked the wastegate, I can pull it open with a vice grip, although not a lot of force needed but again these turbo's are tiny, and I don't know how stiff the stock standard wastegate springs are.

Anybody have any clues? no boost gauge but the LED display on the dash board don't come up, the "LO" button is not selected.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

First off the Glanza run the CT9b, only difference between the CT9a and b is an extra fin on the compressor wheel due to the extra fat the Glanza has.

Have you checked the vaccum hose and the oil feed lines?

Also check the manifold for any cracks as like their predicessor they arent the best design and tend to crack.

I have checked all the lines that I can see, but I can't see the oil line, I've checked the manifold they all seems fine, although I can open the wastegate with my finger, although with a bit of force, would this be the problem?

There's absolutely no boost, not even 1 pound I think, could the turbo seize or the wastegate packed a sad?

I have just hooked up a boost gauge and drove the car, as the revs climb, the needles goes back to vaccume slowly, as if there was some restriction.

check theres no holes in your intercooler, you could be losing boost through it.

absolutely no luck, this is a non-modified Glanza V, sigh.

i checked all visiable leaks, i mean if there's a leak there should still be SOME boost, there is NO BOOST in this.

could these things seize easily? common problem?

Does the turbo still spin? Remove the intake pipe so you can access the turbine wheel. See if still spins freely.

the turbo is pretty tight, and looks like it's hidden behind the power steering pump, i'll look into removing that.
