Postby HaWk » Tue Apr 05, 2005 7:25 pm

As stated, i have an exhaust cackle when i get over 2000rpm and i have had my exhaust checked out but no rattles or anything loose in the system so it must be a bung resonator or tip, but im kinda thinking it could b resonator as it's prob pretty old n $&#$% but if anyone could verify a better way i finding out wich of the two it is or knows if it definitly is my resonator could u let me know? kinda low on dough so dont wana get new system etc

Thanks, wuv da yotas!

It'll probably be the exhaust heat shielding

Yep, agreed. I had the same issue, where I'd get the same noise at around 2,000 - 2,500 rpm. It turned out that the heat sheilding under the cat had been damaged and pushed up against the cat, resulting in a resonance at a certain rpm. I just had it pulled back...no more noise...sweet.

You should see the heat shielding - it's the big pieces of metal bolted over top of the exhaust manifold, and wrapped around the exhaust pipe.
