VVT Light ---> MORE HELP PLZ

Postby BZR4AGE » Thu May 05, 2005 2:34 am

hello guys, i have done some research and also on this forum.
i have found the clearest directions, tht is: (but there is a part i dun understand)

Connect the Negative side of the LED to the VVT output on the ECU's 26 pin connector. This will switch to Gnd when VVT is activated, causing the LED to turn on.

on a black top ECU diagram, there is actually a code called VVT. which is not on the 26pin. can anyone tell me which exact one am i suppose to connect to? below is a ECU diagram for the blacktop 20V.

Image

and also, someone mention to put a diode on the LED so tht it will not send signals to the ECU. is tht the small black one with a silver band at one side??

thx for any help guys

Connect negative of LED to VVT and positive to +B, also don't forget resistor...
and there is no need any diodes for many reasons (first: LED is a DIODE, and second VVT output is a transistor output - hence its not an input)

VVT <----vvvv-----|<|---------> +B
___resistor ^__LED ^
resistor can be anything from 500 Ohm to a few KOhms, depends on your LED and how bright you want it

how is the VVT light going BZR4AGE?
did it works?

and sergei, the lower the ohm for the resistor, the brighter the LED or opposite....

i thought of doin it on my spare time... :D
is there any thing i need to watch out 8O
Cheers...

i dunno, thats why im asking.....
actually youd want to find which side its switched... then hook in to it after there..... so when power is applied to the solenoid, its also applied to the light

Not fitted the cams yet. i am saving up big $$ to do the whole engine, as now i have imported from japan a full toda engine kit for my car

And to be honest, importing from japan is much more cheaper than buying from a dealer from here. here you would expect to pay over $4000 for the kit, but i got it for 3/4 the price of it. So now i am officially broke. But can't wait till i fit all of those in there. i am expecting at least 200hp at the flywheel.

Then i will be the King of 1.6L NA. MUhhAHHAHAhaHHAHAHAHHA. (in my dreams)

Now all i am waiting for is finish saving up for a full engine rebuild with these items.

also what specs did you get the kit as... aka cam lift duration, compretion ratio, oversized pistons? ... list goes on

Mmmmm nice. Thats a 16 valve though, do they make a 20v like that? No? Is that cause 16v's are better? Ok. *Finishes talking to self*

Toda is pretty reasonably priced now.
Cams are about $899 for a pair.

I think the kit has cams, pistons and ecu.

heres my kit
1) 11.8 compression 82mm forged piston kit
2) 272 intake 9mm camshaft
3) 264 exhaust 9mm camshaft
4) uprated valve springs
5) In and Ex Cam gears

Got it all for $3000NZD +GST = around $3400NZD. I have connection in japan, thats why i can get it for so cheap, but only for myself (good mate prices)

so whats in the kit?
cams
pistons
vernier cam pulleys
valve springs

does it come with retaniers and collets etc? bearings? headgasket?
what compression are the pistons?
$3k is more realistic.
looks liek a good kit, i have to admit, i thought u said 1/4 of the price....

hey mr rev head.

check my post again
"but i got it for 3/4 the price of it"

HAHAHHA. i do wish i can get it 1//4 of the price.

nope~ i am going to get a TRD headgasket when i start the rebuild. they are same stuff as TODA, but TODA actually twice the price.

nope, does not include the retainers as well, but i am trying to get some brand new valves for my engine, as i would imagine my valves now will not be in perfect shape. wht retainers should i get too? or should i just get brand new genuine ones?

compression are 11.8:1
HAHAHA, this VVT thing turn into a TODA chat thing. quite intersting too.
I am hoping to build a strong 1.6L N/A car which will beat the 1.6L Civic Type R. Hope this kit will do well for me

hmm very cool
send me an email with a list, and ill see what i can do.....
i assume your using ARP bolts etc?

theres a few options for retainers etc, your cams maybe a bit much for stock ones.... but talk to some engine builders about that. going past my expertise there!
