Silver top hesitating at around 4k

Postby nz_baddass » Mon May 23, 2005 6:52 pm

Hey all,
I have a manual 20v silvertop ae101 and it hesitates at around 4k when accelerating, i have changed plugs and air filter to k&n and platnum plugs, and has made the problem a little better, i was told by a engineer making up a bigbore exhaust for me that there is a lot of carbon deposits in the exhaust. I was wondering if any of you know what may be causing the problem, and whether the engine running rich could be doing this.

Thanks David[/b]

carbon is unburnt fuel or incomplete combustion.it could be alot of things causin this. your timing could be out ... how many kms has your car done? the HT leads could need replacing or there could be a resistriction in the air intake system. clogged fuel filters can cause hesitatons at higher revs too
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one

Around the 8k per foot of lead is usually about right but it depends on your leads. As long as they are all fairly close and generally get higher resistance whent he leads get longer then you should be fine.

Wiggle then as said above just to make sure the lead isn't broken inside.
