head machine - how far for good comp?

Postby Truenotch » Sun Aug 21, 2005 10:32 pm

The head came off the 86 this weekend after blowing the gasket so it's time to take the head to be machined.

So long as its going to get machined I figure it may aswell get a few extra thou skimmed off to give a bit more kick.

How much do you think should be taken off to give good comp but still give a lift in compression? It will most likely be using a .8mm trd metal head gasket.

Cheers.

Not sure exactly how much was taken off mine when i blow the head gasket in my ae82, but it spent a hour and a 1/4 getting machined. And god it goes good now

Yeah at the moment the plan it to get 0.5mm (20 thou) planed off.

Then we'll see.
