ST165 Stuck at 0.5Bar

Postby sergei » Fri Dec 23, 2005 10:49 pm

my ST165 is stuck at 0.5bar boost, is there any reason for Turbo VSV not opening? Turbo VSV has been relocated (now sits next to intercooler)... Intercooler (st205 unit) is full of coolant, have not got any error codes, and it was working before I was getting 0.7bar...

might just be broken?
have you tried disconnecting it from the ECU and earthing the wire that goes to the ECU, to see if it opens then?

I've tried to apply 12v to it while blowing air thru it, it works... possible ECU does not supply signal to it... anyway, I've made an ovveride switch wich turns it on aswell as water pump and fan on i/c radiator...

have you jumped that bodgy pin that used to be in the old WTA IC?? as if that senses to hot it limits the VSV dont it? so if its flapping around or unplugged that might be your answer.

I've driven with the ovveriden VSV and still it does not boost above 0.5bar, I think maybe T connector is too restrictive to work porperly or turbo housing arround wastegate is cracked...

I found the problem: when I relocated TVSV I T into hose between snail and wastegate acutator, this does not work for some reason, when I used second port on wastegate (which I blocked in the beginning) and removed T line it strated to boost 0.6Bar...
BTW drilling the ports on the TVSV will not lead to higher boost (i did try different sizes till 5mm)...

supposedly you need to drill to 6.5mm to get something like 12psi. It should work, because it's an air bleed device and the bigger the hole, the more air it will bleed

I'll try 5.5 to get 10-11psi I'm after, the thing is that the internal diameter of the valve stays the same...

well its not going to bleed if you vsv aint opening up is it :?

you could drill a 10mm whole and still wont bleed if the vavle is shut

I've raised boost further to 0.7bar using 1 cable tie clamped to the hose wich is going from turbo to wastegate...
