removal of pilot bearing in crank

whats the best way of removing the pilot bearing in the crank,the one in my engine if buggered, how do i pull it out?

Use the special puller tool. Or if you aint got one a good trick is to fill up behind it with grease (pack it solid) then with a bolt or punch or something thats a tight smooth fit in the center of your bearing, hit it through and it will hydraulic itself out of the crank, grease cant compress.

Been known to weld a nut to them also and use a slide hammer for the stuborn ones.

pack the area behind the bearing full of grease then put a bar/bolt etc that fills the ID of the bearing pretty well and hit it with a hammer.. the hydralic pressure should pop it out.

BTW safety glasses and overalls are required.. you'll get grease and shite everywhere.

i dont have a special tool, but i tried the grease on a different motor once before,and i just poped the dust cover bits out and grease went thu the whole bearing, i never did get it out.

same happened here only works well for the brass bush types I find. try the slide hammer I made a small one up for this job
