Turbo

Postby trueno_20v » Fri Feb 24, 2006 10:39 pm

Ive just brought a t3 turbo (off a rb20det) and when its on the angle im mounting it the oil feed and drain isnt straight up and down, when looking at it from the side the feed is at position 10 on a clock and the drain is 4 on a clock lol if you get what i mean its not straight up and down, is this ok or does it have to be perfectly straight?

A rule of thumb is that it has to be within 15 degrees from dead straight (each side).
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

I've never seen a turbo that has a 1 piece (core to exhaust housing).

But then I havin't seen much turbos.

You'll have to ask someone else from here onwards.

you should be able to move both, my t3 (not off skyline) has a bolted exhaust housing, and like retaining plates on the compressor, i can rotate the exhaust by taking out all the bolts 6 and move it round to the next hole that lines up. put bolts back in

hope it helps, if they are similar

it should come off, tape it lightly with a soft face hammer, just make sure you dont damage the turbine wheel in the process,

Give it a blast with 556, and let it sit overnight and see what happens.

add some form of penetrive solution and let it sit, then use a heat gun to warm the exhuast housing causing it to slight expand, and it should come off.

well today i sprayed some 556 on there and heated it with the heat gun and tapped it off with the hammer, came off pretty easy..Got the housing off and saw that the exhaust wheel was buckled badly then it fell off!!!!!!Also noticed 5-6 cracks though the exhaust housing..so ended up taking the shaft out and it looks like it has been over heated..the shaft is gold and turns black as it gets closer to where the wheel onces was lol so now ive wasted $180 and am now looking for a new turbo (td05, td05h, tdo4??)

rb20 turbo has a "t3 footprint" but flows closer to t25/28
td05 14b can hit 300hp with the boost wound up, and is alot tougher than the fickle rb garbage
Folks in the u.s. enjoy the challenge of taking their 3000 pound 2L mitsubishi awd street cars down the dragstrip in the 12sec zone. Many have done so with minimal mods - not bad for a 12-15 year old $100 oe turbo!
