ke70 brake upgrade

Postby Scheme » Sun Mar 19, 2006 3:21 pm

Slotted an older 16v 4a-ge in my ke70, I'm guessing I'll at least need to upgrade the front brakes, move off the solid rotors at least... Best way to go ae86 struts?

I'm guessing the rear drummies wont really need replacing..

Unless you are throwing it at a track regularly I wouldn't waste your time with an upgrade, you haven't really added a lot of weight into the car. Decent Mintex pads from Race Brakes and new slotted rotors will be plenty. If you do have fade problems add some ducting.

oh, real? Yea it is a ke70 wagon. I'll chuck in some good pads then, I would of thought an upgrade would be required for cert... I'll just reseal and give the standard calipers a good clean out. I attempted to find some new rotors for it, just new solid ones, tried a couple of places and they couldnt come up with anything. Any suggestions where to find?

what he said. i have a 3T in a TE71 club/rally car with std KE70 front brakes, but fitted half decent pads. never had an issue with slowing down, unless it's too little, too late!!

They will be able to supply the slotted rotors (don't know price) and Mintex pads (just over $200). Although it may sound not that cheap, if you were to do a swap you would need to buy decent pads and probably new rotors anyway.

I bought DBA slotted rotors for my sedan (still solid though ). KE70 2 door wagons have 10mm larger rotors, which might be an option, though I'm not sure what tweaking you'd have to do to make them fit.
I think Racebrakes can do upgraded material for your drums too?
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

nope not at all, not for a standard 4AGE anyway. I certed my ke35 / bluetop 4age on the standard brakes with no problems.
