having a wee bit of trouble getting the damn superstrut arms off

any help?

try smacking the @#%^ out of it using a rubber mallet you can use alot of force with those without causing much damage if any

tried rubber mallet, tried hammer, tried crowbar
dont want tp try heat (rubber bushes etc behind)

might have to get a dumpy mallet and try that

What you want to do is get a 303 or a 12 guage on the end of that and fire the fcuker loose.

I think that where the long arm bolts to the hub there is small cotter pin (no pun intended) that holds it in place? Long time since I did this on my old ae101 gtz though. You will have to remove this pin to remove the arm.
The other joint where the short arm bolts to the strut... see if you can't fit it into a press and apply force that way.
One I did was a real pain in the ass the other almost fell apart - a couple of toyota mechanics I know said that when they were bad they were really hard to seperate!
Sadly I have to tell you that it's easier when it is still in the car as not so many parts wan't to move at the same time...

When i did it I just got a crowbar, hammer, big piece of wood, its a complete and utter bitch. crowbar down between the 2 arms to pull them apart, i think thats how i got them done in the end.

Shouldn't have removed them from the car.

First use a hammer either side of the upper balljoint to pop that off (bang bang bang in unison).

Use a tapered prybar between the short knuckle and the lower arm. A short sharp tap on the end of the taper usually pops that off.

A couple of sorts, one with the bolt that goes through and one with a nut on top. Looks to have a nut on top of that one. Only real way to get it off is to bash the hub around the ball joint but with a solid hammer (no point with a rubber/soft one) or using a ball joint separater. The horrible one to get out is between the long arm and the short one.

live and learn i guess, I made this mistake using a generic fork one..... boot split and mashed.... I should have thought ahead as to what would happen... live and learn (only a kp one tho, 10 bucks got me basically a whole steering rack for spares )
