Paint Stripper - What works?

Postby wde_bdy » Sun Sep 17, 2006 12:15 pm

Tried some stripper yesterday and all it did was make a mess. What have you used and what worked? I got sold Resene brand, was a complete waste of time and didn't even really bubble the paint.

used various brands. depending on age/type of paint to be removed, it often helps heaps to give the paint a little rough up with sandpaper. Ive found that can make a big difference in the effectiveness of the stripper

what exactly are you using it on?
car, house?

i'm guessing its a car seeing as how your asking in the tech section.
you wouldn't want to put a blow torch on a car panel :?

there was 2-pac paint that hadn't be properly mixed when i bought the TE71, i tried heaps of things to get it off without much luck.

in the end i used lots of thinners and steel wool / scotchbrite pads. was a bloody gooey mess, but got it off the panels.
