Factory TV

Postby FST4RD » Fri Sep 29, 2006 8:36 pm

Tried searching but nothing......
My friend just bought a 97 BZ touring carib and it has a factory TV in it.
Is there anyway you can get it to work?? Is there some sort of band expander (like what he needed for the radio) to get it to work??

It will be NTSC system, unless you have some sort of NTSC feed for it then you wont be able to use it here as we use the PAL system.

NTSC and PAL are only the colour systems.
NTSC TV's work here in NZ, so I don't see why car ones cant.

But I don'think there's any converter etc available.

Apparently the car yard guy said that the frequency or "tv waves" are different like the radio waves???

Yeah same as the radio's. NZ radio's go from 88 to 108 or what ever,
and the jap ones go from 76 to 88.

Same deal with tv's, except there is no such thing as a TV expander we have come across yet.

The problem is not in colour format but frame rate (and slightly different resolution), PAL in NZ works at 50Hz interlaced, while NTSC in japan works at 60Hz interlaced. So basically it will show "moving frames" and B&W...

There ARE converters out there, but it's so stupidly expensive, crap quality, you're way better off just getting the whole PAL system.

Remember kids - NTSC = Never The Same Colour
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
