more st162 questions - EGR

Postby tractionfree » Sun Dec 24, 2006 4:13 pm

the b*stard celica saga continues. after getting the head off to replace the gasket that was already blown in the engine i replaced the old engine with, with the blown big end bearings... phew

ive started blocking off the EGR gear. when i took the head off (with the inlet manifold still on), i had a little black valve drop out of it, im guessing its EGR related. obviously im not planning to use any of that gear anyway.

so do i unbolt the whole shebang off the side of the block? or better to leave it on, but with the lines plugged? and should i leave the valve in, remove it or fit a blanking off plate? id really appreciate some advice, cheers

I do it to alot of diesels.
All you need to do is jam a frost plug in the hole and will be sweet, or if you want to get rid of the weight then blank it like you say and rip it all off
