hilux 2jz conversion

Postby oem-r » Wed Feb 14, 2007 2:42 pm

my mate just brought a toyota hilux surf, '98 with a 2.4 diesel turbo which has blown a big end bearing, and can get his hands on a 2jz n/a motor 3 litre for very cheap. with a ported head and extractors.

was wondering what was required to convert the hilux with the 2jz engine, the hilux is already a manual, and the supra engine has a w58 i believe manual bellhousing, and was told the hilux gearbox would bolt up?

any help would be very much appreciated!!

if put a 2jzge into a 91 surf, ln130, had 2.4diesel turbo.
i did a body lift of 3.5" so i didnt have to modify the sump to fit around the diff head.
youll need to find out what the tag says your gearbox is, as there are 2 types of boxes, R153F or something, youll need to measure your bell housing on the engine, itll either be about 160mm or 190mm, if its 190, the best thing is to find a bell off a 1jz-r154 and that'll bolt everything together mint.
otherwise if its 160mm, like the one i did, you need a custom bell or adaptor plate, i made an adaptor plate to use the auto bell, custom fly etc, fuel tank from a v6 model.
lowered engine in and made new mounts from rubber mounts to block, mounted ecu inside behind glove box and poweredup,
it runs mint
thats basicly it, any questions just ask
cheers

ps it fits in the engine bay without modifying anything, i also have one in my yn57 hilux
