Opened my car door this morning and as I lifted the handle I heard something break..
Closed the door, and I couldn't open it again. The clip had broken off the handle... Great..
I've pulled the door apart and couldn't see how the rod attached to the handle. It didn't help that its right near the top of the door and slightly obscured by glass..
So I pulled the other door apart. There is a nice big fluro clip attaching it. I searched round inside the door and all I could find was a broken cable tie... That must have been holding it.
I'm pretty sure my car was broken into before I bought it 2 years ago. There is a small amount of damage on the passenger door, the passenger lock is also missing its clip and has never been re-connected. (using remote locking so havent worried about it) I have a feeling it was broken into on the car yard. THe photos from the dealers website show a different stereo and there is damage inside the dash.
Anyway... If the door handle clip was broken in a break in on the lot, why do people have to do such half assed repairs... Suppose the dealer just doesn't want to fork out the cash.
I've had to re cable tie it for now. Where would I get one of these clips? Panel beater, locksmith, wreakers, toyota?
