Odd Engine Noise

Postby supraman_nz » Fri Feb 16, 2007 7:23 pm

Car is a 99 Carmy - 2.2L.

Been running great for years but its suddenly started making an odd noise at around 2300 RPM. It sounds like a tinny rattle in the engine that only comes on during 2300 RPM ish above and below it is normal.
Cars a manual if that makes any difference.

Any ideas what it could be? Is it worth getting checked out?

Thanks in advance guys

likely to be a heat sheild or an exhaust bracket.

We had a very similar thing - turned out it was the exhaust bracket under the sump was cracked.

I replaced the flux capacitor on our camry when we had an odd rattle... didn't fix the noise but I ended up in 1957 when I went over 139.68 kph! (88mph). I never even knew that the flux capacitor had failed!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

mate, if you have your one hard wired to the power supply, you're running the risk of either a major meltdown, or getting stuck somewhere in time if you get you're wires crossed

Make sure you have 1.21 Jiggawatts or else you won't be able to trigger the flux capacitor.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
