I have a suspected bent axle in my "T" rear end. Or more precisely it's 99.9% sure it's bent. Anyway.
Worn diff bits mean I'm taking the diff out and subsequently the axles are getting taken out too. I'm going to replace the bent one, the question is...
Would you replace both of them given their age, and the condition of one of them?
Opinions please...

Not absolubtly neccesery but depending on how the first one got bent, the other could have had quite a shock, might pay to get it checked for straightness, and maybe even crack tested, really depends on what the car is bieng used for!

chances are if one axle is bent what's the diff housing going to be like? check everything for straightness especially the other axle , while they're out it saves alot of messing round after the diff's been out back together just to find the other axle's damaged

hilux diff no good for racing, unless you spend $$$ on it.

as said, while its apart.... check it

I run one in an AE86 rally car .. seems ok .. whys it a dud ?

lack of LSD ramps. so instead of having clutchs and ramps, they just have clutchs
wont be so bad on gravel due to the lower grip levels
but on seal they are known for slipping and spinning one wheel.

So, problem solve if track use only when they locked.. ?

Hilux diff + welder = OK,

I run a locked in mine on the circuit.
Dont think you'd want to use a welded diff on the street,
especially in the rain.

Revhead may remember trakling the celica rally car for a ride in the wet with a locked diff....
