whinning noise before clutch

Postby EVL20V » Tue Jun 26, 2007 2:08 pm

on ae101 gt apex,

slight whinning noise (noticable) when in neutral sitting there, put the clutch pedal in like 1" (not disengaging/engaging clutch) and it goes away, and when decelerating when revs drop from 2.5k to 1k theres a weird whinning also. any ideas? cheers 8)

Drop the gearbox and change it, its just clipped onto the clutch fork.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

could also be input shaft bearing if you can hear in neutral with foot not on clutch. that could explain the noise when on the move also

yeah thats what i was gonna say, the input bearing, which is in the gearbox, shouyld be just a couple of bolts to get it out tho. the release bearing is on the fork which presses on th fingers of pressure plate

my money is on the input shaft bearing too

edit - but if you are taking the gearbox out you might as well do the release bearing too.
