OK Ive done a search but didn't answer my question,

this morning i took my car to panel beaters, had to disconnect battery for welding, then when i was leaving it wouldn't start, just ticks when the key is turned. so put jump start pack on it and it started straight away.

drove home thinking i just had a flat battery and the drive home would charge the battery (which is relatively new) back up to normal, but no! it did the same thing. jump started it and it was sweet.

so i checked the connections/terminals, they seem all good, tight as and not corroded.

is my alternator naffed? its weird though because Ive had no issues starting or charging recently.

start the car up and check what voltage is on your battery. if its charging it should be somewhere in the region of 13v or more.

havn't checked for current draw.
clicks like a machine gun.
battery is a century 11 plate.
we have one of those battery testers at work so will have to do that.

Terminal probably isnt tight enough, or is a bit grubby. Rapid clicking usually means its getting reasonable voltage.

but i double checked them, both tight as, i gave the positive a clean up. the ground was looking a bit old though, getting a little bit rusty but i didnt touch it i only disconnected the positive, only touched the positive, left the negetive how it had been for ages. hopefully that is the problem, nice easy fix. Thank you.

k, with machine guning sounds like ur battery is flat.
reasons why?
check its charging correctly, 14-14.4 on toyota's normally,
current draw should be 0.05amp with everything off,
Troublesom century batteries $&#$% out or not charge when u brought it.
