Noob Question about pulley's

Postby ollieboy » Fri Sep 21, 2007 4:29 pm

If a pulley has four bolts on, how do you get them off? It sounds stupid I know but I just realised I have never done it before and need to.

Cheers guys

put the belts on, then you should be able to loosen them with a spanner.

A firm grip and a ratchet? Or lever a pit of wood in so the pully cant spin if your not strong enough...

Far out, and I thought the aw11 had a tight engine bay!

Get a spanner and put in on one side of a nut/bolt and the other end of the spanner on the other side of the next bolt (if that makes sense) so you basically lock the pulley that way, then use another spanner to crack one bolt loose. Turn the pulley around a quarter of a turn and lock it up with the next 2 bolts and crack the next one free etc etc

Easiest way is to keep tension on the belt then crack the bolts off, take tension off the belt and undo them with your fingers.

Reverse for doing them up... just make sure you don't forget.

If you cant be $&#$% putting the belt back on if you already have it off, loop the belt around the pulley and have someone pull on lightly it to give it tension.
