As Mark, says, you'll be trying to drive the supercharger harder to get the same "effective boost". From a 1G to a 5m is 40%, and that's a lot to ask. You could try spinning it faster but the faster it spins and tries to build boost, you are introducing more heat and it loses efficiency. Also most superchargers have a maximum rpm limit and there is a point in the rpms where the supercharger will become inefficient.
If I was going to do this (I have considered it), I would look at the superchargers fitted to the Holden V6. I know the V6 is a 3.8 litre, but when I rang CAPA in Australia, they said the Holden unit was at it's limits on the 3.8. It could work well on the 5M. And then you have to consider an ecu.
Can you get two of them???
I'm not trying to put you off. Ask wreckers - oops, auto dis-mantlers - and other professionals in the industry, even turbo suppliers.
